PIMP MY RIDE: GG gets $40M for car, elevator as gov’t cuts police car budget
The government will have to raid the NHT to help fund the 2017/2018 budget, as the working class struggle to own a home.
At the same time, the police force has seen its motor vehicle allocation slashed to $200M from $400M and have to settle for used vehicles.
Yet $40 million has been allocated to purchase a motorcar for Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen and install an elevator at his official residence, King’s House.
The sum can be found in the estimates of expenditures tabled in Parliament last week Thursday.
Internet search shows that an industrial elevator could be installed for US$10,000 to US$15,000 for a three-storey building, the height of the GG’s residence on Hope Road, in St Andrew.
With the money that’s left over, the GG could easily afford to purchase most exotic motorcars within the US $100,000 price range.
An overall budget of $236 million has been allocated for the administration and upkeep of King’s House.
