MIRED IN A STATE of indebtedness of more than $100 million, the focus of the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) is on saving the jobs of its 250 employees.

That word has come from CBC general manager Doug Hoyte.

“Our focus is on saving jobs,” he said. “It is not just about cutting numbers to achieve a particular saving. That would be grossly inhumane.”

Hoyte said he believed the staff, for the most part, was sympathetic toward the corporation’s financial plight, especially in the face of possible job losses.
