HH Sir Godfrey Gregg D.Div
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest.”
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30).
As I struggled with being too busy and not taking a break once a week, the Lord spoke clearly in His word. (read the morning text again) I realized that the body needs to rest in order to replenish the cells and organs to function properly. So in the natural, it is in the spiritual when you need to take time off not to go to church but to stay in the presence of the Lord to rest and renew your strength.
In my own life, I take time daily not only to read and meditate on the Scriptures in my mind but also to pray in the Spirit. As a result, I experience an increase in the peace of God and an inward connection with Jesus that really help ease tension and stress. I find that I am sleeping better and I am gaining more knowledge while educating myself. I chose to separate myself, locking the doors to my house and be alone with God in prayer and studying the word of God.
You will find when you spent that time alone with God that your spirit is ready to take a flight into heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Your secret room is where you ask God to meet you like where He met Elijah at the brook Cherith. I will assure you that there is no interference like in so many rooms we call “secret rooms”, What is so secret in the room? Daniel met the Lord at a place and the presence of God was there and satan couldn’t stand what was taking place he waged a war which lasted for 20 days. Hallelujah, but on the 21st day, God appeared through Michael to reassure him that his prayers were answered from the moment he set his eyes towards heaven.
You have to wait in the presence of the Lord like Daniel and the three Hebrews in the furnace. This is how Isaiah saw it and I refer you to Isaiah chapter 40 and verse 31. “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint.” This is my encouragement for you today and I pray that God will bless and keep you in His grace and grant us mercy.
