HH Sir Godfrey Gregg D.Div
And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error, and there he died by the ark of God. 2 Samuel 6:7
How Do I Bring God’s Ark Into My Life? David determined to move the Ark of God with great pomp and ceremony. David invited all to come and see this great thing he was going to do for God. He prepared all the musicians and built a new cart to move God’s presence and bring it unto himself. David used the finest oxen in the land, but God cast a stumbling block in their way. The ox is the only animal used for sacrifice or service. One of the oxen, pulling the new cart, stumbled and the arm of flesh (Uzza) reached forward to steady the Ark. God struck Uzza dead. Today so many people are trying to do God a favour by setting up a church and it is outside the will of God. Look at Uzza in possession and innocent was struck dead because he was not authorized to touch the Ark of the Lord.
Many oxen today are willing to be used as sacrifice or service, but God is going to throw a stumbling block in their path if they do not do it His way. Many are trying to move God by their pomp, ceremony and magnificent works. Like David, they are going to try to move God in their own way. When we try to move God by man’s means, the arm of flesh reaches out to steady God’s presence. This causes a breach between God and man. David’s efforts went down in failure for man’s ways always fail. This is a warning to us brethren that constantly try to assist God in His work. You see many are called to serve Him, but few are chosen to do this work.
For three months the Ark of God remained in the house of Obed-Edom. Three months David went before God, questioning, “How am I going to bring the Ark of God home to me? How am I going to have the Ark of God in my life?” This is the question we need to be asking ourselves today, “How am I going to have the Ark of God in my life?” What should I do Lord? I need you in my life more than ever, but like He said to Paul He is saying today “my grace is sufficient to keep you.” Too, often we think God is moving slow and we have to speed up the work. No, Sir, they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. Isiah 40:31
“For because ye did it not at the first, the Lord our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought Him not after the due order. Brethren, God wants you to know that He alone is “the God of ORDER”. He appoints you to the place He wants you and man will disappoint you. I always believe and understood the word of God “there is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the ends thereof are the ways of death.” And the children of the Levites bare the ark of God upon their shoulders with the staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of the Lord.” I Chronicles 15:13-15 God has an established order. If we violate these ways, we bring separation between us and our God. We cause division among brethren and many times end up as scandalous children. The Ark of God must be carried upon the shoulders of God’s anointed. No arm of flesh can be stretched out to protect God’s presence. Pomp, ceremony, a new cart, a new name or location, and the arm of flesh will not work. Only God’s ways are acceptable. David learnt that great lesson and so I am learning this process. God bless and keep you.
My encouragement to you this morning is not to assist God in any way. His ways are past finding out and there is nothing we can do to help along the way with the plan of God. Unless you are called to touch the word of God it is best to stay away and let God steer the ship.
