HEALING THROUGH FAITH

This is the day that the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad therein. A wonderful privilege to write and encourage readers across the world.

Today I want to talk to us about Fear and Faith. Can you imagine living in a community and can’t socialize, can’t go to the temple to worship, can’t sleep on the same bed with your spouse, can’t touch anyone because you are deemed unclean or impure? I want to introduce you to a woman in Mark 5. This woman had a serious problem, this woman had an issue. This issue was twelve years old. She was bleeding for 12 long years non stop. I could only imagine how isolated, depressed and disappointed she would have felt. Her issue meant she was unclean according to Leviticus 15:19-33.

Whether we want to accept it or not, we all have some sort of issue. It might not be a blood issue, but a physical issue where the Doctors can’t resolve, maybe it’s a financial issue that have you burdened down, maybe it’s a social issue where you are dealing with family problems.

Maybe these issues have been going on for more than twelve years. Today I want to tell you that you can find relief from your issues. In order for us to find relief, we must first accept and identify the problem. The Bible tells us in Mark 5:26 that this woman suffered many things of many physicians and had spent all that she had. Every time she goes to see the doctors, her situations keep getting worse. This woman was scorned and deemed unclean because of her condition. But life is about how we deal with those challenges. She heard about Jesus, and by hearing about this Jesus, something inside her began to spark. Her faith began to build when she heard about Jesus. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing the word of God. So this woman Faith starts increasing while Fear took a back seat. For she said,‘’ If I should touch the hem of His garment, I shall be made whole “. Like many folks today, they talk and show no action, faith is an action word. Here is this woman believing in her heart that she will be well. She knew this was her opportunity, she knew this was her day, she knew and understood that was the moment. She would have heard about Jesus and believe in what he can do. She made up her mind to get up and seek Jesus. It shows her confidence in who Jesus is, and what he can do.

Beloved, Jesus is the great Physician. Luke 1:37 says,‘’ For nothing is impossible with God’’. Many times we will say things and fail to act on them, fail to apply them to our lives. But this woman acted on what she said, acted on what she believed, she moved by faith, and as the bible says, ‘’ Faith without works is dead’’. The multitude was great, but that didn’t discourage her, it didn’t detour her, because her eyes were on the Physician, her mind was on getting to the great Physician.

According to the Laws of Moses in Leviticus, this woman shouldn’t be touching anybody; because that will make them unclean. By touching the clothes of Jesus, she would contaminate him. Didn’t Jesus touched the untouchable lepers before and healed them? So her situation caused her to drop Fear and step out in Faith. Beloved, Fear and Faith can’t work together. So in order for her to make her move, she must let go of Fear and forget about the tradition of the laws of Moses. This woman was determined to do something about her condition. Desperate situations will cause us to take desperate measures. Most people would have given up years ago. My question to us today, Are we willing to approach Christ, are we willing to throw ourselves at His feet begging for mercy? You see folks, tradition is good in a sense, but tradition also hinders and kills progress. This woman was desperate and had no other hope. She had already suffered for twelve long years. Now, there was hope…. Her only hope. She ignored
tradition, she ignored the multitude and pressed her way through until she touched the hem of Christ garment. She immediately feels something change inside her. Heeling!!! She got what she wanted, so she tries to slip away into the crowd.

But Jesus Knew, He felt virtue left his body, He felt strength left his body. So he asks what is to many who were there a weird question.“ Who touched me ?’’ Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. Jesus said to her, ‘’ Daughter, your faith has healed you, your faith has made you whole. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering ‘’.

It is important that we put our trust solely in Christ. This woman trust the Doctors, they drained her, they caused her to bankrupt; yet her situation just grew worse and worse. Regardless of who we are, where we came from, it takes Faith to please God, there’s absolutely no way around this. Without Faith, this woman would have suffered more and die in her situation.

I challenge us today to put our issues to God. I challenge us to trust Him with our issues, our challenges and our fears. What Jesus did for her over 2000 years ago, He can do for you here today.

May God continue to strengthen us as we in our daily walk with Him.
