And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. Psalm 9:10
God’s mercy is found whenever you don’t get something bad that you deserved. It is the withholding of a penalty. It’s a bit like a child deserving a time-out but instead getting time to talk to his dad and being reminded that he’s loved.
When you experience mercy it alters your thinking, rearranges your emotional response, and deepens trust. Mercy should never embolden You to make sin your go-to response but should instead remind you about the character and goodness of the God who extends mercy as a gift.
When you seek God, there are no questions about how much bu make, where you live, or what skin tone you have. God’s mercy never hinges on anything except the love He has had for you since before time began.
Mercy invites trust in the life of the timid, offers a road map to the God who never abandons, removes a deserved time-out and reminds you of God’s love instead.
Father, may Your mercy transform me. From deep inside, where have harboured hidden habits and unwise opinions, change me as I focus on You and Your Word. Thank You for what You are teaching me.
